What counts as a knowledge base?

A knowledge base is a single documentation site with its own URL, theme, and content. Each KB can have its own custom domain, branding, and access controls. For example, you might have one KB for your public docs and another for internal team documentation.

Can I switch plans anytime?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes take effect immediately and billing is prorated. When downgrading, your access continues at the current tier until the end of your billing period.

What's the difference between Enterprise and Enterprise+?

Enterprise ($179/mo) includes 50 team members, BYOK AI, audit logs, custom roles, and Premium Support — perfect for large teams that don't need formal SSO. Enterprise+ ($179/mo base + $24/seat above 5 included) adds SSO/SAML, SCIM provisioning, audit log compliance retention, and a dedicated Customer Success Manager — for organizations with security and compliance requirements.

What happens when I exceed my KB Assistant query limit?

You'll be charged per additional 1,000 queries at your plan's overage rate. Pro: $3/1,000, Ultra: $2.50/1,000, Enterprise: $2/1,000. Or bring your own API keys (BYOK) for unlimited queries at no overage cost on Enterprise and Enterprise+ plans.

What is BYOK (Bring Your Own Keys)?

BYOK lets you connect your own Anthropic or OpenAI API keys. You pay your AI provider directly and get unlimited AI queries with no overage charges from KBKit. Available on Enterprise and Enterprise+ plans.

Do addons apply per KB or per organization?

Most addons are priced per knowledge base. For example, if you enable Smart Recommendations on 2 of your 5 KBs, you pay $12/mo × 2 = $24/mo. Advanced Analytics, Integrations Hub, and White Label are priced per organization (one subscription covers all KBs). Ultra, Enterprise, and Enterprise+ plans include Advanced Analytics, Integrations Hub, Smart Recommendations, and White Label at no extra cost.

What is the All Addons Pack?

One flat fee that bundles all addons at a ~47% discount. Pricing is differentiated by plan: Pro customers pay $89/mo (or $79/mo yearly) for all 10 addons; Ultra+ customers pay $59/mo (or $49/mo yearly) for the 6 addons not already included in their plan. Bundle customers still respect per-addon usage caps (e.g., Auto-Translation has 500 translations/month per KB with overage pricing).

Is there a free trial for paid plans?

All paid plans come with a 14-day free trial. No credit card required to start. You get full access to all features during the trial period.

Do you offer discounts for open-source projects?

Yes! Qualifying open-source projects get the Pro plan completely free. Eligibility requires a public GitHub repo with at least 50 stars, non-commercial use, and the project must be your own work. See the Open Source Program page for details and how to apply.

What counts as a Chat query / Writing call / Translation?

A Chat query is one question-and-answer turn from a visitor in your public KB Assistant. A Writing call is one slash-command invocation in the editor (e.g., /summarize or /rewrite). A Translation is one article translated into one target language. Cached or de-duped responses don't count, and partial generations that fail before returning a result also don't count toward your quota.

What happens if I bring my own API key (BYOK)?

You pay your provider directly (Anthropic, OpenAI, or other supported vendor). We still track every call so you can see exactly what AI is costing you in the AI Budget dashboard and set a monthly budget cap to control spend. We never see your key or the response content — only token counts.

What happens if I hit a quota mid-month?

Each meter behaves independently. If you exhaust Chat queries, the public KB Assistant pauses for visitors until the next reset (or until you raise your budget). If you exhaust Writing Assistant calls, slash commands pause in the editor but reading and Git sync continue. If you exhaust Translations for a specific KB, only that KB's translation queue pauses. Overages are billed per plan when configured, and your monthly AI budget cap can stop spend before you ever hit a quota.
